I know how to wear a hat!

It's been a busy month, but mainly a month of home improvement, rather than music. I have done a wedding gig, and played the Lyceum Scottish Preview event last weekend.

And I now know how to wear my blue bonnet. I've never been able to get it to look like the others' - it always looked more like a renaissance floppy hat rather than a bonnet. When I arrived at the Lyceum, one of my fellow reenactors accosted me when arrived and started to fidget with my bonnet. "It drives me nuts to see this - it looks like you're wearing a chef's cap!" I expressed my frustration with it too, and blamed the wide head-band. A third member of the unit asked if I was wearing the bonnet from TartanWeb (which he wore), and when I confirmed this, he suggested I turn the headband inside the bonnet. Suddenly, it looked right. And the headband still worked to hold it in place - as if this were the way it were meant to be worn!

Three years in the unit and I finally learn how to wear my damned bonnet.

It's Been a While

It's been a while since I've posted anything. Things have been busy on all fronts.

I've been gigging and teaching more, so that's good. The pipe band won in Anne Arundel.

I bought an AWESOME set of 18th-century pipes (pictures coming soon) for 1/7th what I would have paid for the set I was looking at, and my set really is one of a kind. Might need to get a matching koranda-wood chanter for them, though.

And my band project pretty much fell apart with the departure of our flutist/pianist, who wants to spend her time exclusively on Irish music.

The winter will be a time to hunker down and study seriously in preparation for next year's competition season, and to hopefully begin to network to find a replacement for Rosemary.
