Sesond Session

I played in my second session yesterday, this time at The Royal Mile Pub in Wheaton, MD. It's a monthly Scottish session, lightly attended this time. There were 5 Scottish fiddlers (including myself, John Ward of the Fiddle Club, and Melinda Crawford, this year's National fiddle champion), along with three more generic fiddlers, two of whom are regulars at Nanny's - and Maggie's shows. It was a lot of fun, but I'm still very limited by my tiny repertioire. My technique is pretty good, and several people commented on it.

I did impress everyone with my rendition of Crossing the Minch, and 24th Guards Brigade at Anzio.

On the piobaireachd, I'm to the point where I can play most of the variations and not forget how the tune goes. I'm still a little sketchy on the Crunluath variation, and the Crunluath a Mach throws me every time, especially when the thematic note is a D. My taorluaths and crunluaths on D are also pretty awful on the pipes, which is odd, because they're pretty good on the practice chanter. I think I'm siezing up too much.

I got some practice on my secondary instruments, but not enough. I'm easing back into my practice regimen, it seems.
